The final images were created in CGI, but we had to shoot real “elements” in order to minimize the creation of every detail in the final image.
Bridge pillars, empty foreground surfaces, etc. Until we began scouting, if you had asked, “what type of bridge pillars exist in and around New York City?”, we would have only offered our best guesses. Within a few hours of arriving at the base, or underside, of the dozens of bridges in NYC, our mind was officially blown. Both the quantity of bridges and the various heights of the ascent, and the mass variety of constructed pillars, was a surprise discovery. In the end, we set up on Randalls Island for an early morning sunrise shot and pieced together the final images in post-production.
